Dissociation

This piece is for the victims of violence perpetrated against them and the multiple conditions that can afflict one. Impairing the ability to function in society to various degrees but more importantly the scars left on one's soul and psyche and how much work it is to regain a sense of self.

Among them is Dissociation, a symptom that occurs in many conditions such as PTSD among them. Any major shock that throws your equilibrium out to the far end and the result is a sense of being on survival flight or fight mode. Often the victim is not aware of what is happening to them and the image that is sent back to them is confused and no sense of trust in one's perceptions can be relied upon to form judgment. Your relationship with others is not based on trust but in fear of abuse if and when you recognize that intent. Rather it is based on Power Over. The list goes on but the point of this message is that the effects are far reaching and one doesn't heal from it without professional help, a great percentage of the population doesn't even get help mostly because of their inability to recognize the underlying problems. The longer one suffers the more the condition embeds itself and become complex, turning into a chronic condition. That is for those that are left alive from such encounters...I say Alive in relative terms because although the body can and does heal the psyche bears wounds that stop them from enjoying what life has to offer. You become a Living Dead to all intent and purposes.
